On May 8, fifteen Justice for Bhopal members, joined two of the survivors of the Bhopal disaster and several local activists in a protest outside the Dow Shareholder's meeting in Midland. See the photos below.

Two of the Bhopal survivors, Rashida Bee (second from right) and Champa Devi (right) and Sathyu Sarangi (second from left), a longtime campaigner for justice in Bhopal, talk with Diane Hebert (left), herself a longtime Dow activist in the Midland, MI area.

Sathyu talks with Diane while Rashida and Champa, dressed in mourning saris, display one of Raghu Rai's disturbing photographs. Three photographs by Raghu Rai are also on display behind them; Rashida is pictured holding an Indian jhadoo (broom), a symbol of the need for a clean-up that the Internatioanl Campaign for Justice in Bhopal has delivered to Dow offices around the world.

Sathyu, Rashida, and Champa endure the eighth consecutive day of their fast for justice in Bhopal. After fasting for twelve days without any food or beverages, besides water, Sathyu, Rashida, and Champa turned their hunger strike over to their supporters, asking that it be continued, in a global relay hunger strike, until the 19th anniversary of the Bhopal disaster on December 3rd. Dave, Shivani, and Ryan protest behind the survivors.

Channel 5 News, a local CBS television station, covers the protest outside the Dow Shareholders Meeting.

Activists and concerned citizens demand that Dow accept its responsibility for Bhopal, as shareholders file into the meeting.

Dave and Shivani, who themselves were fasting for a day, protest outside the meeting.

One of Dow's representatives emerges to shake Champa Devi's hand and exchange some pleasantries. Dow's CEO, William Stavropoulos, later lied about Dow-Carbide's criminal liabilities inside the shareholder meeting, in response to a question from Champa.

Rashida poses in front of her banner, a portrait taken by Raghu Rai, outside the Shareholder's Meeting.
