How to Apply

New Students
The Cheever Program is open to first-year students from all University of Michigan schools and colleges. Applicants should have a strong desire to live, work and learn with women of diverse backgrounds and cultures from around the world.

Please see our Features and Requirements for additional Cheever Program details.

If you have been admitted to the University and have matriculated (i. e. paid or waived your enrollment deposit), you may apply to Cheever when you apply for on-campus housing. Housing application information for new students is typically available in mid March. When you receive your information, please complete the Michigan Learning Communities (MLC) section of the Housing application and select Cheever from the program options. You will then be asked to provide a brief statement about your interest in the program.

Please visit University Housing's website and click on My Housing for details. You may also access My Housing through Wolverine Access.

Students admitted to the Cheever Program will be assigned rooms in Helen Newberry Residence.

Returning Students
Returning students, including those returning from study abroad, should contact the Cheever office regarding their eligibility.
