Summer Work Internships |
Looking for a summer job? How about an internship position at a company in Western Europe? You can immerse yourself in another culture and apply what you've learned in class through a CIBE-funded internship at a corporate partner in France or Germany. Working abroad will provide real training, key contacts, impressive resume material - and maybe even an entrée to a full-time job. As an intern, you'll enjoy maximum contact with native speakers and opportunities to practice your language and business skills and acquire new ones. Naturally, once you're overseas, you'll have the flexibility to travel on weekends and to soak up the European ambience. |
You are eligible to apply for an internship in France or Germany if you are currently enrolled in an advanced business-content language course and have reached a requisite level of proficiency in French or German. If accepted, you'll receive a CIBE European travel award to cover your travel expenses and be placed with one of our partner firms in banking, automotive, pharmaceuticals and the service industry. The length of your summer work assignment may vary, depending on the company's needs and your time frame. You will be responsible for paying your own room and board as well as other expenses you incur during your internship period. |
Students who have taken Business German or French courses may be eligible for financial aid from CIBE. Contact Professor Rachel Criso, Romance Languages and Literatures, rcriso@umich.edu or Professor Janet VanValkenburg, Germanic Languages and Literatures, jvv@umich.edu for more information. Links: |
