    SPSS StataCorp Scientific Software International
    • Student edition of Lisrel 8.7 is free but is limited in the number of variables that can be used and in its data importing capabilities. Available in Windows/Mac OS 9/X, and Linux versions.
    • Student edition of HLM 6 is free but is restricted in the numbers of variables and observations. Available for Windows.

    Michigan Census Research Data Center: A joint project of the U.S. Bureau of the Census and the University of Michigan to enable qualified researchers with approved projects to access confidential, unpublished Census Bureau data.

    State University of New York at Buffalo

    Utah State University Information on the geography Department, various maps of Utah, lecture notes from GIS classes, and information about ongoing GIS research at the university. University of California, Santa Barbara

    Remote Sensing Research Inc This has links, lists of publications and descriptions of research projects, all dealing with remote sensing.

    Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies at the University of Arkansas. This site has a section which lets visitors make maps, and gives reports on their fascinating work involving GIS and Archaeology, history and environmental studies. There is much more to this site than can be describe in one paragraph.

    National Center for Geographic Information Analysis. Located at the University of Maine. This site contains information about the NCGIA, including its graduate programs. It also has a searchable database of publications about GIS.

    "The University Consortium for Geographic Information Science is a non-profit organization of universities and other research institutions dedicated to advancing our understanding of geographic processes and spatial relationships through improved theory, methods, technology and data." (Quote from their introductory page). The rest of the site details UCGIS actives, gives information on how to join, and provides information on research.
