THE DIGITAL CHART OF THE WORLD (DCW) The DCW is a comprehensive 1:1,000,000-scale vector base map of the world (fitting seamlessly with Atlas GIS). It is based on 270 Operational Navigational Charts (ONC) produced by mapping agencies from a number of countries

This aerial data set contains many variables dealing with surface features. This map shows roads.

A closer look, at the District level, permits the superimpostion of various layers; here, the district is one with significant elevation.

Up to 256 layers can be superimposed on one map; this map file has 145 layers, some of which are displayed on this map.

DCW: Numerous Layers

In the following set of slides, related layers were extracted from the DCW and saved together as single maps. The graphics file underlying each map is a separate file, any graphics file can be overlain on any of the others. In this manner, highly complex spatial relationships may be portrayed.
