English Malady

Causes:

This mental disorder was first described by George Cheyne in 1733, who wrote that the disease was caused by "the moist air of these islands, our variable weather, a too-rich diet and overpopulation" (11).

Recipe:

As symptoms such as runny nose, fever and stomachaches tend to arise with this disorder when it occurs during the winter months, warm tea is recommended to break up excess fluid in the lungs. Although tea is served daily, extra servings should be ingested to remedy the malady.
