Real Estate

Real estate in the Chicago of the 1940s was a business of extreme bias. Black people were only permitted to live in designated areas. Often these areas were dirty, vermin-infested slums that were deemed unfit for the white to dwell in. Landlords rented barely livable rooms to families at an outrageously high rent.
