Welcome
to Mother Moon Pottery,
Since settling in Asheville, Ive returned to clay, a childhood
love that had waned for many years. Since getting my hands back
in clay, I have found pots and sculptures I had made as a child
and forgotten about. Even in them, I can recognize influences I
carry still. I was surprised when my mother sent me a sculpture
of the head of Medusa I had made in eighth grade and it was the
same face I had recently put on a sculpture of a pregnant woman
(she was a very peaceful Medusa). I like the idea of work evolving
slowly, just as our lives do. The two mirror each other back. A
piece can take me back to an exact time, a thought, a feeling. Each
piece I make carries the energy that I instill into it. It is a
snapshot of my life at that moment. |
