LEO Membership Information

Who is eligible for membership in LEO?

All non-tenure-track instructional staff, including lecturers, adjunct faculty at all ranks, and some visiting faculty (at all three campuses), are covered by the bargaining unit.

The following are NOT included:

  • Graduate student instructors
  • Faculty members who also hold a tenure-track appointment
  • Faculty whose non-tenure-track instructional appointment is at 0 percent effort
  • Clinical and adjunct clinical faculty
  • Supervisors (those who can make recommendations regarding the hiring, retention, evaluation or compensation of other union members)

A distinct count as of November 1, 2006 shows 1,299 LEO Lecturers and LEO Adjunct Faculty, distributed as follows:
