Register for the MHealthy Fall Fitness Challenge 2008

Being physically active should be a year-round goal – not just a New Year’s resolution or pre-summer attempt to lose a few pounds. That's why MHealthy has launched a new fall physical activity program for U-M faculty, staff, graduate students and retirees.
The MHealthy Fall Fitness Challenge is a six-week physical activity program designed to get you moving to maintain your current body weight and measurements. This program encourages you to exercise at least three days a week for a minimum of 30 continuous minutes each time, track your minutes online and even donate to a local charity.
As extra motivation to succeed, participants are asked to pay $15 to join. If program goals are successfully met at the end of the six weeks, you will have the option to have your participation fee returned to you (or donated to the Cancer Survivorship Program for the U-M Cancer Center) and you’ll be eligible to win great prizes! Funds given by participants who do not meet program goals will automatically be donated to the Cancer Survivorship Program for the U-M Cancer Center.
Program success includes staying within two pounds and/or ½ inch of your program pre-weight or waist circumference (some participants may lose more, which is also considered a success), logging your activity minutes in the MHealthy Tracker at least five of the six program weeks, meeting your weekly exercise goals, and completing the pre- and post-program surveys.
Registration now through September 23 for the MHealthy Fall Fitness Challenge
The program runs September 23 through November 4.

Fitness Center Discounts
There are literally dozens of fitness centers in and around U-M where you can break a sweat. And now, by showing your MCard, joining just got a little easier on your wallet!
As always, U-M facilities like U-M Rec Sports, MFIT Fitness Center at the Cube, Flint Recreation Center and the Dearborn Wellness Center are great places to sign up for a fitness class, take a walk on a treadmill or to lift weights. They offer top-notch exercise equipment and include amenities like swimming pools, indoor tracks, and basketball and racquetball courts. U-M facilities are conveniently located throughout campus and membership rates for faculty and staff are always extremely affordable.
Additionally, to help improve the health and well-being of its workforce and promote physical activity, the University’s Michigan Healthy Community program has asked fitness centers surrounding the three campuses to offer special rates to all MCard holders.
If you prefer to work out closer to home, participating non-university work out facilities are now offering MCard holders discounts of at least 10 percent off their regular membership rates! For more information, check out a complete list of participating fitness centers and gyms on the MCard discount website.
Participation in the discount program is strictly voluntary and is determined by the fitness center.
