Saturn

This is a “True Color” image of Saturn I took at last night’s open house (March 4, 2006) at Peach Mountain. It’s interesting that it’s fairly comparable to the “Naked Eye” views through some of the better telescopes last night, except that my picture doesn’t show Saturn’s moons, which are clearly visible looking through the scope. I couldn’t make them visible in the photograph without over-exposing the planet itself. I guess the human eye still has far larger dynamic range then a CCD chip :)
