MASG has a new website which may be viewed here! Mission Statement The purpose of the MASG is to foster intellectual interchange among scholars and performers from across all campus departments and programs at the University of Michigan interested in music performed in the Americas. We define "Americas" broadly to include musics of North, Central, South America and the Caribbean. "Music" includes any cultural practice that incorporates sound as an expressive element. This music need not have been created in the Americas, but might be transplanted or otherwise introduced from outside. Events sponsored by the MASG must include a balance between faculty and student involvement.
