If string theory is to be relevant to a detailed understanding of nature, string phenomenology must develop into an increasingly important subfield. We think there are signs that even more people are contributing in diverse areas such as string-related flavor physics, model building that connects high-scale string theories to low-scale effective theories, and string cosmology. The successes of the previous conferences in this series (Oxford in 2002, Durham in 2003), along with the approval of the string phenomenology Aspen Workshop "Strings and the Real World" (starting August 16, 2004 for 4 weeks) are indicative of this growing activity. We hope String Phenomenology 2004 can play a significant role in stimulating this subfield even further.

The meeting will have a somewhat different format. Daily there will be plenary talks, each 30 minutes plus questions, until the afternoon coffee break. Three days the afternoon coffee break will be followed by two parallel sessions each having six twenty minute talks (including questions), and the other three days followed by a session having twelve ten minute talks (no questions). For these sessions the question period will be replaced by a general social hour after the session where questions can be asked of the speakers personally. When people register they can request which kind of talk they would prefer, and the organizers (based on the advice of the International and Local Organizing Committees) will accommodate them as best as possible. The ten minute talks are included so many participants can get a brief sense of what people are doing, and be more aware of what they could fruitfully discuss with them.

The meeting will begin with a brunch Sunday August 1 at 11am, followed by the first session at 1:00. It will end at about 6:30pm Friday August 6.
