Research InterestsThe research program in our lab centers on genetic studies of blood coagulation and thrombosis. The lab has a long-standing interest in von Willebrand factor (VWF), the genetics of von Willebrand Disease (VWD), and the plasminogen activation (PA) system (particularly the role of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI1)). Current work focuses on the in vivo analysis of coagulation system function in transgenic mouse models and the identification of novel genes contributing to human bleeding and clotting disorders. Most recently, the lab has begun a major effort applying mouse genetic approaches to characterize novel modifier genes for thrombosis and bleeding.
