MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT/VISION
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatu,
Ramadan mubarak everyone, and on behalf of the Muslim Students' Association, welcome back to the University of Michigan. Masha Allah, we have a great and energetic new freshman class coming in, and I encourage everyone to make them feel welcome. For the benefit of those of you who are new to this campus, the MSA is an organization that's here to help you have the best experience possible as a Muslim college student. The MSA does this by providing a variety of events and services such as a weekly jumuah prayer on campus, weekly educational halaqas, stress relieving socials, an annual Islam Awareness Week to outreach and educate the greater student body, to serve as a voice communicating concerns to the university administration, and much, much, more.
Some of our major goals this year are to make sure the climate of our organization is welcoming to Muslims from all backgrounds and experiences, and to increase our involvement with the greater campus, and we absolutely need your help and participation to make those goals a reality.
Get involved with MSA! There are plenty of great reasons to do so: guaranteed, you will not only meet people who will become lifelong friends, but with the right intentions, its an opportunity to serve the deen of Islam and gain many blessings working for the cause of Allah SWT. And of course, you need an excuse not study every night away at the UgLi. So, get involved!!! Trust me, you'll find an exciting way to help out with a project that fits your talents and interests.
Walaikum asalaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatahu,
Yamaan Saadeh; President 2008-09
MISSION STATEMENT
The Muslim Students' Association works for the betterment of the Muslim and Non-Muslim community on campus through community service, education and social activities.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Muslim Students' Association is to provide a community space for students at the University of Michigan to meet other Muslims, learn about Islam, and get involved in the campus community. The MSA works to meet the needs of Muslim students on campus, whether it be through organizing the weekly Friday prayer, being a strong Muslim voice to the greater campus and adminisrators, promoting activism about issues relevant to Islam, or simply being the avenue through which many students form lifetime bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood. We hope to provide students with both exciting and illuminating experiences to broaden people's perspectives on Islam and promote the cultural, ethnic and ideological diversity that characterizes the religion. If you have suggestions for new events or would like to get involved with our current ones, please do not hesitate to contact us (
