I am interested in the role of mechanically stressed DNA in biological systems. Currently, I am studying the role of mechanically stressed DNA in the regulation of transcription. We believe that the torsional and bending state of DNA may be sufficient to repress transcription in some systems. To address this hypothesis, we combine biophysical techniques including single molecule microscopy with conventional molecular biology.
