for faculty and graduate students in English, History, Comparative Literature, American Culture, Women's Studies and related departments and programs at the University of Michigan.

We are interested in examining the “long nineteenth century,” from the beginnings of Romanticism to the early twentieth century. We meet once a month to exchange graduate students' work in progress, such as dissertation chapters, and to discuss faculty research in its pre-publication stages.

We regularly welcome visiting scholars to discuss their work in an informal setting.
