At this point, the Diskus inhaler must remain in a level, horizontal position.

It must not be shaken or tilted in any way or you will spill the powder medication.

If you tilt, shake, or drop the inhaler, you must assume that some of the medication has spilled. The dose will not be accurate. Do not inhale the dose.

Instead, clear out any remaining powder in the inhaler by tapping the mouthpiece on a flat surface.

Then, pull the dark-colored lever forward until it stops.

Begin the dose preparation step again as described in the "Open the Mouthpiece" section.
