The four-year B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences program prepares students
for technical positions in the pharmacy production, control, and development
sectors of the pharmaceutical industry or for graduate studies in pharmaceutics,
medicinal chemistry/pharmacognosy, or analytical chemistry. Graduates
of this program are not eligible for licensure as pharmacists. For more

Students are admitted to the program after completion of two years
of study in the basic sciences. For details on degree requirements and
curriculum, see Pre-Pharmaceutical Sciences
Curriculum.
Application to this program is made through the University's Admissions Office. Students are admitted to the College only for the Fall Term. The deadline for application is Dec. 1. To request an application, please fill out the B.S. Application Request Form.
Students are accepted into the B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences degree program after completion of at least 60 credit hours in a pre-pharmaceutical sciences curriculum.1 Students must complete an additional 62 credit hours in the pharmaceutical sciences curriculum. Upon entering the program, each student must choose an area of concentration: pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analytical chemistry, or pharmacology. Upon graduation, the student must have completed two terms of investigations and six credit hours of approved electives in the chosen area of concentration.
Students must complete at least 60 credit hours in the following courses before being admitted to the pharmaceutical sciences program:
Pharmaceutical Sciences Curriculum
1.Students enrolled in the B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences program can complete the requirements for both this degree and the interdisciplinary M.Eng. in Pharmaceutical Engineering in five years. To pursue this option, students should apply to the M.Eng. program during the first term of their first year at the College of Pharmacy. 2.B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences investigations courses include: Medicinal Chemistry 573, Pharmaceutical Chemistry 571, Pharmaceutical Sciences 568, Pharmacognosy 572, and Pharmacy 569. At least four credits of investigations are required. Up to four credits more may be counted toward the elective requirement.
