About us:
We, Alpha Delta, the newest initiate class of Phi Sigma Pi, were inducted into the fraternity in Winter 2007. Before our induction, we had to go through 4 months of “training”.
This training included organizing 4 themed brother events. Our events were:
• Karaoke (social event)
• Helping out in the EasyasPi 5k run (service event)
• Ballroom Dancing (Membership Development)
• Collecting empty cans around Ann Arbor (fundraising)
Besides these events, the brothers organized Big/Little events. Each of us was assigned to a “Big” whose job was to teach us the ways of the Pi. For the Big/Little Events we had:
• Laser tag
• Campus treasure hunt
Other than attending events, we had to sit down with every brother and interview them. Imagine interviewing 30+ brothers. Yes, we interviewed every single one of them individually. Sounds tedious? Yes it was, but this was a great opportunity for us to get to know each brother better.
To top it all up, we had to take a “quiz” every Sunday evening. This quiz was a graded test where we had to memorize facts about the Pi. And yes, if we failed the quiz (< 50%) we had to retake it.
The whole process took us 4 month! But in the end, we were INDUCTED AS BROTHERS!
