A five-year project, sponsored by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting/Public Broadcasting System and recently funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Ready to Learn is designed to focus on supporting research-based instructional principles and practices for improving reading achievement for high poverty children ages 2-8.

This conference will summarize exciting new advances in a) understanding the pathways for improving instruction for high-poverty children; b) detailing instructional features that cut across successful interventions for improving reading achievement; c) describing how these instructional features are evident in effective interventions in different media (television, online, books; multimedia interventions). Our goal will be to highlight effective interventions that address the needs of high poverty children and show significant advances for improving reading instruction.
