Currently I am working on the development
of a micro-total analysis system (mTAS or lab-on-chip)
for the simultaneous measurement of insulin, oxygen, glucose, and calcium
levels of isolated islets of Langerhans (the microorgan composed of pancreatic
b-cells).
Detection will be done by microelectrodes, fluorescent dyes, and either
fluorescence polarization or CE (which ever decides to work). I am
also studying the fluorescence visualization of insulin receptors on single
b-cells in order to simultaneously visualize
insulin secretion and localization of the receptors via confocal microscopy.
I also enjoy copying Mike's web summary,
attempting to convince Bob to buy a Raman spectrometer, and acquiring all
known Nintendo games.
