Superhuman Powers: Jean as telepathic powers. She can read the minds of others as well as project her thoughts and ideas into others minds. At one point, Jean possessed telekenetic powers also, but it is unknown how they were lost and whether or not they will return.

Biography: Jean was one of Professor Xavier's first students at the Xavier Institute. She uncovered her powers when she was ten and witnessed the death of her best friend who was hit by a car. As she held her dying friend, she found that she could feel her emotions. After this incident Jean began to isolate herself from others and struggled to control her powers to no avail. Jean's parent's sent her to Professor Xavier, and, with Xavier, she learned that she was a mutant. She also learned how to control her powers. When she first joined the X-Men she was known as Marvel Girl. Since then she also also held the names, Phoenix, Dark Phoenix.
