Winter Semester 2007

2.22.2007

For Public Release

The Glee Club began the winter term with a flurry of events. Male Vocal Arts Day (MVAD) kicked things off in the first week of January. 270 high school students joined us for a day of song, which culminated in a joint concert at Hill Auditorium. A few weekends later, the Club hopped a bus for Winter Tour. Stops in South Bend and Chicago gave Clubbers the opportunity to impress the residents of Indiana and Illinois with their golden voices and unparalleled charm. Suffice it to say that a memorable weekend was had by all! Immediately following Winter Tour was our annual Phoneathon. Thanks to all of you who contributed this year. With your help, we raised funds to help finance the Club's day-to-day operations as well as our swiftly-approaching Midwest tour.

Speaking of tour, things are shaping up for our two-week trek across the Midwest this May! Clubbers are hard-at-work earning points for what is sure to be a memorable finale to the Club's 147th year. I encourage alums in the Midwest area to try to make it to a concert. As a graduating senior, I'm already beginning to feel the tinge of nostalgia with each performance of the Yellow and Blue. We'd love to see you on the stage with us as we make our way through the Great Midwest.

The Executive Committee has also been busy over the past two months appointing key leadership for the Club next year. We have appointed a new Assistant Business Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant Alumni Relations Manager, and Publicity Manager, as well as 18 Junior Managers. All of the men are solid leaders, and the Committee is confident that the Club is in capable hands as it approaches its 148th year.

Finally, the Club is looking forward to our Spring Concert in April at Hill Auditorium. Not only will we share the stage with former Clubbers from the 1967 World Tour Group, but the Club will debut the newest Michigan song, "Michigan Remember", written by our conductor Paul Rardin with lyrics by Robert Bartlett. We would love for you to share with us this moment in Michigan's history as we take the stage in April!

In TC&ME,
Tim Wagner, President
