Theme Semester
The College of Literature, Science, & the Arts (LSA) coordinated a
campus-wide Theme Semester for Winter 2004, which examined the Brown decision through a variety of interdisciplinary courses and activities.
The Winter 2004 LSA Theme Semester, Fulfilling the Promise of Brown, aimed to inspire research and dialogue about the legacy of Brown. The theme semester included special courses, public lectures and symposia, and cultural events.

Catherine Squires, assistant professor in LSA Communication
Studies/CAAS, taught a class called “Communication
Media in the Black World: Electronic Media—Broadcasting,
African Americans, and Civil Rights.” Teams of students
in the class developed websites as part of a final project.
