Betsy Sundholm, Manager,
Recreation and SORC
sundholm@umich.edu
I started working at the Michigan Union as a work-study student in the fall of 1989. After being a Recreation Assistant in the Billiards Room for two semesters, I was asked to take on more responsibilities and become the Student Manager. I held that job for several years while I finished my undergraduate degree, and was hired full-time by the university in 1994. Along with managing the Billiards Room, my job description also included management of "Michigan Advertising Works," which changed to The Student Organization Resource Center, "The SORC," in 1997 when the 4th floor was renovated.
I love that I'm doing something completely different from one day to the next, often from one minute to the next! I also love that I have an office that is NOT all beige or light gray, and I have a WINDOW!!!!! :-)
Outside of work, I play competitive pool on the Michigan Women's 9-Ball Tour from September to May. I also enjoy scrap booking, gardening, and raising money for the Humane Society.
