We Believe the Christian life often has as many questions as answers. We're committed to searching together while we enjoy the journey during our years here. The Wesley Foundation offers plenty of opportunities through a range of activities, some for virtually everyone in the student community. In our worship, work and play together, we find many of God's answers.
The Wesley Foundation is named for John Wesley, founder of the Methodist movement. He first dedicated his life to spiritual growth and to meeting the needs of society while a student at Oxford University in the early 1700's. Originally called the Wesleyan Guild, the organization at the University of Michigan is the oldest United Methodist campus ministry in the Americas. It was begun in 1886 and chartered in 1887. The name was changed to the Wesley Foundation in 1923, and John Wesley's dual emphases continue.
Today, the Wesley Foundation serves the students on campus through various programs and activities. We have a Sunday service at 8:00 p.m. called Taize. At this contemplative worship experience we sing, pray, and listen for God's voice in the style and manner of the community in Taize, France. Candles are required, Lava Lamps are welcome. We also have weekly fellowship, service, peace and justice, and worship activities. More information about our activities can be found here as well as a list of this semesters scheduled activities.
