WIDTH

(Workshop for Integrating and Discussing Topics in Healthcare!)

(page under construction. just like SPH.)

What is WIDTH?

WIDTH is an interdisciplinary forum for doctoral students to discuss their dissertation topics, research ideas, and results with other students and faculty that have a similar interest in health services research but different cognate training/perspectives. WIDTH participants will gain insight into other cognate's research methods and potentially stimulate ideas about how to integrate similar techniques to their own research.

WIDTH meetings are held in room M3024 (the North Conference Room) in SPHII on Fridays from 12-1:30pm unless otherwise specified. As if the topics aren't stimulating enough, refreshments will be served, too, so make sure you attend!

Journal Club

We all know how important -- and how difficult -- it is to stay on top of the current literature and policy issues in our field. WIDTH has created the Journal Club as a cooperative service for WIDTH. Each month WIDTH members submit publication summaries, consisting of name and affiliation of researchers, citation, and a sentence or two of findings and anything interesting about methodology, implications, etc.

The WIDTH Journal Club is a great way to stay updated on current health policy literature, generate new research ideas, and see see what is being funded and what researchers at what institutions are doing the work.

Journals included are: AJPH, HSR, Inquiry, Medical Care, Medical Care Research and Review, Journal of Health Policy, Politics, and Law, JAMA, NEJM, J Health Economics, J Health and Social Behavior, J Health Care Finance, Health Affairs and Soc Sci and Medicine.
