Walgreens Mail Service

Web site for U-M Prescription Drug Plan members:
www.walgreensmail.com/umich

The mail service pharmacy helps you reduce your annual out-of-pocket costs. If you are in a tiered co-pay plan, the mail service co-pay is only two months co-pay for a three-month supply, saving you one-third of the cost. In addition, use of the mail service helps the University control cost for next year’s benefit plans and helps to reduce future cost increases to members.

Prescription drug mail-order service is provided by Walgreens Mail Service as an alternative to retail pharmacies. Walgreens Mail Service, accessible on the Web at www.walgreensmail.com/umich, provides convenient, secure deliveries to your home or elsewhere within the United States. Supplies of up to 90 days at a time can be ordered through the mail-order service. This is particularly convenient for participants who take medications on an ongoing basis. Participants in a tiered co-pay plan save a third of their out-of-pocket co-pay cost for a 90-day supply of medication at the mail-order pharmacy. There are a limited number of medications where a maximum of 60 days supply is allowed. Please see the Chart of Drugs with Coverage Requirements and Limitations.

Most prescriptions are valid for up to one year from the date the physician writes them. This expiration date is generally listed on your prescription label. When a prescription expires each year you will need to obtain a new prescription from your physician. You can maximize your mail-order benefit by asking your physician to include up to three (3) 90-day supply refills on your original prescription and by ordering your prescription refills on or after 75% use (26 days for a 34-day supply or 68 days for a 90-day supply). 90-day supplies of drugs subject to quantity limits can be refilled no earlier than 75 days.

How mail-order pharmacy service works
When filling a new mail-order prescription, ask your doctor to write two prescriptions:

• One for a 34-day supply, which you fill at your local pharmacy

• One for up to a 90-day supply, which you will use for mail order service

When you enroll in the Prescription Drug Plan, you will receive mail-order forms and pre-addressed envelopes with your prescription drug ID card and welcome packet. Use the pre-addressed envelope to mail:

• Your original 90-day prescription

• Your co-pay or co-insurance amount (see What's My Copay on the SXC U-M site: https://umi.rxportal.sxc.com )

• Your completed order form

Mail your order to:

Walgreens Mail Service
P.O. Box 29061
Phoenix AZ 85038-9061

You can pay by credit card, check, or money order. All mail order prescriptions are processed and returned to you within 14 days. These turnaround times apply to prescriptions that do not require additional information or interventions. You will receive your medication within 14 days from the date you mail your order. For an additional charge, expedited shipping methods are available for your convenience. Expedited shipping reduces the shipping time, not the order processing time. The Order Status feature of Walgreens Mail Service Web site allows you to view the status of orders you have placed within the last 30 days. Or you can check your order status by calling Walgreens Mail Service toll free at 800-745-7083 (TTY 800-573-1833).

Refills

You can order mail-order refills online through the Online Refill feature at www.walgreensmail.com/umich. To refill by phone, please call 800-797-3345 or call Member Services at 800 745-7083 (TY 800-573-1833).

If you order refills by mail, attach the refill sticker that was included with your prescription to the order form and send it to the Walgreens Mail Service mail order address.

You can review and print all prescriptions you received through mail order and the retail network by clicking on the “Medication History” link on the SXC Web site at: https://umi.rxportal.sxc.com.

Alternate address
Notify Walgreens Mail Service about a temporary change of address if you need to receive your mail-order medication at a different address than your University-listed home address. U-M plan mail-order medications cannot be sent outside the United States.

Compounded Medications
Compounded medications may not be filled at Walgreens Mail Service Pharmacy, but can be filled by any participating retail pharmacy.

Security
Mail-order prescription orders are shipped in plain, tamper-evident packaging, and are mailed First Class U.S. Mail, Federal Express, DHL or UPS, according to an acceptable method for that particular medication. Controlled substances may require an adult signature upon receipt.

Through its secure Web site, Walgreens Mail Service guarantees protection of all information about you and your prescriptions. Only you have access to your prescription records at: https://umi.rxportal.sxc.com through a secure online sign-on and password.
