The Guggenheim
One of the most well known buildings which Frank Lloyd Wright built is the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Wright passed away however before the building was completed, never seeing its end results. The Guggenheim is a result of Wright’s attempts to use the natural plasticity of organic forms in architecture. He built the museum in the shape of an inverted ziggurat, and this spiral shape was unlike any other museum built at the time. The architecture used was very modern, and used rigid geometry and many artists believed that the extravagant building would take away from the art itself. Wright believed otherwise. The Guggenheim is thought to be the most important building of Wright’s late career. Its building style differs greatly from his earlier works, and proves the variation in his work. (20)
