Phi Beta Sigma's Sleepout for the Homeless:
A collaboration with other greek organizations (Sigma Lambda Beta and Zeta Phi Beta) that involved getting canned food and clothes for the homeless, while sleeping out in the Diag.
Admission Call Outs:
Current students called admitted minority prospective students for the following year in order to answer any questions and talk about their educational experience at the University of Michigan .
AIDS in Black & Brown: International and Domestic Issues - Acting as if HIV really mattered: developing real interventions for real people: Dr. Larry Gant, Dr. Vineeta Gupta, and Dr. Oveta Fuller spoke on domestic and international HIV/AIDS issues and interventions with discussion to follow.
Adopt a Family: A 7-year old boy was adopted for the holidays. Beta Chapter purchased and wrapped Christmas gifts for him.

Autism Fundraiser: Donations collected from our 2004 Founders' Day Dance were given to a Lansing Charity benefiting children with autism.
Breast Cancer Development: Raffle ticket proceeds from Abre Tus Ojos/Open your eyes were donated to women with financial need in the Breast Cancer Department.
El Salvador & India Relief: Walkathon & Bucket Drive
Honduras Fundraiser: In 2000 sisters Ixsy Ramirez and Lucy Arrellano built houses in Honduras as part of Alternative Spring Break. The sisters have kept in contact with locals from the area and in Winter 2002 learned that several of the town's citizens continued to suffer from the effects of Hurricane Mitch. To help in this effort SLG sponsored a donation booth to raise funds at the Salsa and Merengue dance.
Lupus Awareness Foundation: Donations collected from our 2003 Founders' Day Dance were given to a the Lupus Awareness Foundation.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: Raffle ticket proceeds & donations collected from a bucket drive on the Diag were donated to the American Cancer Society.

ALMA: Assisting Latinos to Maximize Achievement Program for incoming Latino freshmen. SLG annually volunteers with the ALMA program.

Ronald McDonald House
Ser Metro Campus Day: Veronica Sanchez, Beta Chapter Founder and an Executive at Ser Metro, worked with SLG to sponsor a university tour and discussion of college life with students from the Ser Metro Detroit Academy. The Ser Metro participants enjoyed interacting with U-M students while eating at the Michigan Union and during the panel discussion on college life and the need for higher education.
Cultural Awareness
Breaking the Mold: Along with Sigma Lambda Beta, SLG sponsored "The Role of Cultural-based Greek Letter Organizations in Higher Education" featuring Guest Speaker Mary Peterson Mary Peterson, Associate Director of the Office of Student Life at The University of Iowa. The program addressed the strengths, misconceptions, opportunities, and wisdom contained within culturally based Greek lettered organizations.
Cinco de Mayo Parade - Detroit, MI
Easter Celebration: Sigma Lambda Gamma, in collaboration with Sigma Lambda Beta put together an Easter Celebration with games, food, and fun activities for the PALMA kids (Proyecto Avance: the Latino Mentoring Association).
Hip Hop/Salsa/Merengue Dance Lessons
Kermez Hispano: Annual Hispanic Heritage Month event ~ informs the community about underrepresented Latin American Countries (culture/political situations/food).
Latino Game Night: While Monopoly is a huge game in the US, Loteria is played throughout Latin America. During this game night SLG introduced the University community to several popular games throughout Latin America while serving traditional Latin American treats.
Mariachi y Ballet Folklorico: SLG sponsored a live Mariachi and Ballet Folklorico performance in West Quad. The audience enjoyed traditional Mexican music, dance, andcuisine.
