What kind of workstations are available in Sites?

 

Macintosh Full-Use Stations:
There are several different models of Macintosh workstations deployed in Campus Computing Sites. The following Macs are deployed as "full-use workstations".

The full-use stations currently running the MacOS X 10.5.4 operating system software are

  • 15" iMac G4/800 MHz, 512MB RAM + CD-RW & DVD-R drive
  • 17" iMac G4/1 GHz, 512 MB RAM + CD-RW & DVD-R drive
  • 17" iMac G4/1.25 GHz, 512 MB RAM + CD-RW & DVD-R drive
  • G4/933 MHz, 512MB RAM + CD-RW & DVD-RW, and Zip 250 MB drives
  • G4/1 GHz, 1.5GB RAM + CD-RW & DVD-RW (NMC Video Editing Booths)
  • iMac G5/2GHz, 1GB RAM + CD-RW & DVD-R drive.
  • G5/2 x 2GHz, 1 GB RAM + CD-RW & DVD-R drive.
Note: Apple no longer supports the floppy drive.

The following Campus Computing Sites provide Macintosh Full-Use workstations: ATCS (2 Macs), Angell Hall (83 Macs), Angell Hall Classroom C (26 Macs), Art (20 Macs), CAI (10 Macs), Caident (27 Macs), CSCAR (1 Mac), Furstenberg (11 Macs), Learning Resource Center (33 Macs), Michigan Union (12 Macs), New Media Center Classroom (19 Macs), Palmer Commons (7), School of Education (32 Macs), School of Education Classroom (25 Macs), School of Music (30 Macs), School of Nursing (12 Macs), School of Public Health (3 Macs), and Shapiro Undergraduate Library (29 Macs).

Windows Full-Use Stations:
There are currently 5 different models of Dell workstations deployed in Campus Computing Sites. These workstations are currently running the Windows XP operating system software.

  • Optiplex GX270 P4/2.8GHz (tower), 1GB RAM + CD-RW and Zip 250 drives
  • Optiplex GX270 P4/2.8GHz (small), 1GB RAM + CD-RW drive
  • Optiplex GX280 P4/3.2GHz (small), 1GB RAM + CD-RW drive
  • Optiplex GX620 P4/3.4GHz, 2GB RAM + CD-RW/DVD-R drive
  • Optiplex GX745 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.40GHz, 2GB RAM + DVD+/-RW, Dell 13 in 1 USB Media Card Reader
Note: We no longer purchase computers with a floppy drive.

The following Campus Computing Sites provide Dell Full-Use workstations: ATCS (8 Dells), Angell Hall (149 Dells), Angell Hall Classroom A (22 Dells), Angell Hall Classroom B (27 Dells), Angell Hall Classroom D (28 Dells), Architecture (18 Dells), CAI (11 Dells), Caident (13 Dells), CSCAR (4 Dells), Furstenberg (15 Dells), Learning Resource Center (59 Dells), Michigan Union (33 Dells), Michigan Union Tap Room (8 Dells), Palmer Commons (8), School of Education (54 Dells), School of Music, (6 Dells), School of Natural Resources (25 Dells), School of Natural Resources Classroom (23 Dells), School of Nursing (15 Dells), School of Public Health (64 Dells), School of Social Work (48 Dells), Shapiro Undergraduate Library Second Floor Site (23 Dells), and the Shapiro Undergraduate Library Lower Level Site (18 Dells), and West Hall (26 Dells).

Cyber Stations:
There are three models of Macintosh computers serving as our "cyber stations" in the Sites. These workstations are currently running the MacOS X 10.5.4 operating system software.

  • 15" iMac G4/800 MHz, 512MB RAM + CD-RW & DVD-R drive
  • iMac Intel Core 1.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM
  • iMac Intel Core 2 x 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM
The Michigan Union's MUG area is home to some of Campus Computing Sites' "Cyber Stations", featuring eleven workstations providing access to e-mail and the Internet. You're able to browse the Web and check or send e-mail over a cup of coffee or while simply hanging out with friends. Four cyber stations are located on the first floor of the Union in the phone-booths in the hallway across from Amer's. Six additional cyber-stations are located near the Student Organizations Offices on the 4th floor of the Union. These installations are a joint effort between the Michigan Union and Campus Computing Sites.

Cyber Stations can be found in several other locations across campus: Angell Hall Courtyard - 28, Beansters (Michigan League 1st Fl) - 4, Caident (Student Forum Area, Fl G) -5, Michigan Union first & fourth floors - 10, School of Natural Resources (SNRE) - 2, and the Shapiro Undergraduate Library - 5. Cyber stations are also located in the specialty site of the Michigan League Cyber Lounge - 6.


Where can I use a scanner?

There are currently flatbed scanners deployed in all Campus Computing Sites.

All ResComp sites have a Flatbed scanner available for use.
