Campus Computing Sites

M-Print: Coming Soon!
A new web-based printing application ("M-Print") is under development that would allow pdf documents to be sent to an authenticated web site with instructions to print to any networked campus printer at a specific time. This would allow students using Wireless or personal computers in residence halls to print to a specific Sites printer at a specified time.

Printing in Sites (Black & White):
The Basic Computing Package allows students to print up to 400 b&w pages per term at no cost in Campus Computing and ResComp Sites. (Double-sided printing counts as two pages.) Additional b&w pages are charged at $0.06 per printed side.

HINT: You can determine how many pages you've printed at https://www.umce.itd.umich.edu/umce-bin/umce. (Note the "s" at the end of "https" which indicates a secure site. You will need to enter your uniqname and password.).

Billing methods for b&w beyond 400 pages and all color printing are:

Color Printing in Sites:
Color printing is available at Angell Hall Courtyard, the Medical School's Learning Resource Center, and the Media Union sites. The color printers are available for use by all current UM Students, Faculty & Staff.

NOTE: Color printing is not included in the Basic Computing Package. At all color printing sites, each printed page costs $0.79. These color-printing charges will be billed to student or departmental accounts.

CAUTION! If you print to a color printer, you will be charged for a color print job regardless of whether the item printed was black & white or color. The first time you select color printing each semester, you will receive an e-mail reminding you that color printing is a charged-for service.

Sites Printing Guidelines:
Please keep in mind that Sites printing is provided to support the academic goals of the University. Course work and research-related printing meet this criteria, but flyers advertising social events do not! Please limit your printing to academic purposes only and use photocopiers for multiple copies whenever possible. ITCS and the Provost's Office hope to be able to keep service levels high (and the price of printing low), but our ability to do so depends in part on whether students use printing resources in a responsible and appropriate way.

  1. DO NOT insert different paper or other materials into the printers (ie. resumé paper or transparency sheets). These objects may jam and damage the printer's inner components, for which you will be held responsible.
  2. DO NOT take paper from the Sites printers. Removing paper from the Sites printers is considered as an act of theft, and disciplinary action will be taken against you.
  3. DO NOT power-off the printers. If you are experiencing any problems with the printers, contact the Sites staff or report the problem by calling 64-SITES, and select option #1.

Printing Tips:
And don't forget that by following a few environmentally-responsible practices we can significantly reduce the amount of unusable output we create in the Sites. A few simple resource-saving techniques include:
