History:
Originally
called 'Quick-Time Foxtrot' (and originally competed under the category
'Quick-Time Foxtrot and Charleston'), the Quickstep developed from the slower
Foxtrot. As bands began to play the
Foxtrot rhythm in a faster and faster manner, dancers still wanted to dance
their familiar Foxtrot steps. After
some adjustment Quickstep emerged as its own dance.
The 'Stand-Alone' in International Style, its closest American Style
equivalent is the Peabody, which is only very rarely seen in the US today.
