Photos: The art of living (and working) together

U-M departments, associations and individuals celebrate the life of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. with a variety of activities during opening week of the MLK Symposium.

For the 10th year, U-M-Flint students, faculty and staff honored King's birthday by participating in a day of service to the community.

(Above left) U-M-Flint staff members Malin Clark (left) and Andrea Amman, both from the Office of Admissions, spent MLK Day sorting food donations at the Carriage Town Mission.

(Below left) Lerone Bennett Jr., executive editor of Ebony magazine, delivered the Stephen M. Ross School of Business special lecture honoring King on Jan. 17.

(Bottom) Members of Alpha Omega Epsilon, the professional engineering sorority at U-M-Dearborn, posed for pictures at the Gleaners Food Bank in Detroit after their volunteer service was completed.
