Wallenberg’s legacy

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Raoul Wallenberg’s birth. A 1935 graduate of U-M, Swedish diplomat Wallenberg saved the lives of tens of thousands of Hungarian Jews during WWII. In 1990, U-M inaugurated the Wallenberg Medal for outstanding humanitarian work in his honor. The 22nd Wallenberg Medal will be awarded on Oct. 23.
