Women’s Studies turns 40

In 1972, U-M’s College of Literature. Science, and the Arts offered the first women’s studies class on campus: Introduction to Women’s Studies. In 1973, the Women’s Studies Program began with five courses. Today, there are now more than 45 courses each semester on topics around gender and health; gender, race, and ethnicity; and LGBTQ studies.
