Colossal fossil

A 50-foot-long skeleton of the extinct whale Basilosaurus isis, which lived 37 million years ago, is suspended from the ceiling of the U-M Exhibit Museum of Natural History’s second floor gallery. It will reign over a whale evolution exhibit that opens April 9.
