Innovative space
U-M’s Biomedical Science Research Building houses 144 faculty offices and 250 biomolecular research labs. Its interior space is planned around scientific themes rather than departments to encourage collaboration among researchers.

Water to go
A U-M student recently launched a nonprofit organization called Wello that manufactures and distributes the WaterWheel, a 20-gallon drum that can easily move four to five times more water than traditional carrying methods.

U-M alumni top volunteers
U-M is not only the birthplace of the U.S. Peace Corps, we rank third for amount of undergraduate alumni volunteers from large colleges and universities for 2011. Michigan is ranked fourth for all time volunteers since 1961.

According to federal statistics, only 27 percent of full-time college students at public universities graduate within four years. At U-M, 70 percent of students graduate within four years.
