Athletics and Recreation

U-M’s rich athletics tradition began in 1865 when the baseball team won its first three contests. It continues to this day with the Wolverines claiming 52 national championships in 12 sports over the years. But sport activities here are not limited to varsity athletes. Students, faculty, and staff can pick from dozens of intramural, club sport, and drop-in activities. In addition, U-M has fully equipped recreation centers on all three campuses that also offer classes in fitness, nutrition, and health and wellness.
