Financial Information
Financial Aid, Scholarships, and Awards

The Office of Financial Aid is the primary source of information about financial assistance and scholarship opportunities at the University of Michigan. The Office of Financial Aid coordinates many different types of financial assistance including grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study awards. All first-year students are considered for most University scholarship programs upon admission to the University. However, scholarship assistance is limited, and the University of Michigan recommends that all families complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for all aid programs (including state aid) by the deadlines. For details about how to apply for aid, visit the Office of Financial Aid website.

In addition to the Office of Financial Aid (OFA), many Schools and Colleges have scholarship/award programs specific to the School/College that operate independently of the OFA. Schools/Colleges with information available online are listed below. If your student's School/College is not listed, call the academic services office within the specific School/College to find out if that School/College offers scholarships and awards.

The Rhodes, Marshall, and Mitchell Scholars Programs are handled directly by the Provost's Office.
