As a decentralized
University, there is not one single source of information about
events on campus. Instead, there are many different types of calendars.
For example:
- The
Academic Calendar lists most of the major
dates that affect the campus, including graduation, final exams,
and vacations, but it does not include information about residence
hall move-in, Parents Weekend, Homecoming, and other major events.
- The
Student Registration Deadline Calendar
lists important dates regarding adding and dropping courses.
- The
Residence Hall Calendar is a list of important
dates for students living in the residence halls, including move-in
and move-out dates.
- The
UM Events Database is an extensive listing
of campus events, concerts, performances, speakers, and sporting
events, but it does not list everything. Many activities/performances
in the area that are not sponsored by University affiliates may
or may not be listed.
- Varsity Athletic
Schedules show both home and away games
for all of the varsity sports teams. These schedules are usually
not listed on the UM Events database, so be sure to check them
separately for information on sporting events.
As
a parent, all of these sites will provide you with general event
information. If you know the name of an event you are interested
in learning more about, you can type the name in the search field
at the University's main gateway at http://www.umich.edu/
and you may find the information you are seeking.
Parents may
find the calendar links above useful while your son or daughter
attends the University of Michigan. Please note that all calendar
information is subject to change.
