The start of college life provides a student with challenging and rewarding experiences. The University of Michigan allows students to explore many opportunities for intellectual and personal growth, both in the classroom and out.
With nearly 1,000 student
organizations, dozens of club and intramural sports, numerous performance
ensembles, and students from all 50 states and 129 countries, the
University of Michigan offers something for everyone.
The University of Michigan expects students to take an active role in their education and therefore students must assume responsibility for their own affairs. Students are treated as adults who, with the aid of their families and the University community, will continue to develop the knowledge, maturity, judgment, and self-discipline necessary for their future lives. Students should familiarize themselves with the policies that affect students as members of the University of Michigan community.
As parents of Michigan students we hope you will encourage your student to seek a balance between academics and extra-curricular activities. Participation in student activities outside of class helps many students to manage their time better, and leads to a rewarding and successful college experience.
