International Students

International students are a very important part of the University of Michigan community. The University of Michigan International Center provides extensive services and information for the entire University of Michigan community, but especially for international students. Staff at the International Center can help guide your son or daughter through the complex issues of life in a new country ranging from health insurance to visa and immigration concerns.

Undergraduate international students who are new to the University must participate in International Student Orientation. International Orientation serves as an introduction to the University community, giving your son or daughter information about the variety of services and opportunities at the University of Michigan. During Orientation, your son or daughter will complete all necessary procedures for class registration including placement testing, general information sessions, and academic advising. Orientation also gives your son or daughter a chance to meet other new students, and talk to current international and American students.
