My name is Sam Pimentel. I am seventeen years old. I carried out this research project and created this website while participating in the Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP) at the University of Michigan in the summer of 2005. I was participating in a seminar entitled Music of the Everyday: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives on Popular Music in the United States, 1880-Present, taught by Professors Mark Clague and Derek Vaillant.
