Latino Paintings

From Brett Colley & Eric Skoglund

Murals are not the only type of art that can be found in Detroit . The art by Brett Colley & Eric Skoglund are examples of other forms of art in Detroit . These artists created their most famous pieces of art using linoleum and wood. Much of their art is based off of and highlights the recent violence in Chile during the 1970s. In 1973, Dictator Augusto Pinochet was brought to power after the death of Salvador Allende, who died in the presidential palace La Moneda. The United States held a military coup over the democracy of Chile leading to events that devastated Chile 's economy along with killing many innocent people. These actions left the people of South America in horror for more than seventeen years. The art displayed in Brett Colley and Eric Skoglund's gallery focuses on the leaders in Chile and Chile itself in the 70s era. 4
