This website is intended to showcase just a sample
of the
Murals and other street art that Southwest Detroit has to offer.
We will take
the visitor on a virtual tour of "Mexican Town" located in the heart of
Southwest Detroit and
hopefully encourage people to go see these wonderful murals in
person. The purpose of
this website is to teach the
viewer of what the Chicano Art Movement was, how it affected Detroit,
the actors in the movement and how it has played a part in the
development of the murals depicted in this site. Along with
pictures of the murals located in Detroit, we will
provide existing websites that focus on murals in other various cities
around the U.S.
