Additional Information

The transnational gang problem involving MS-13 and El Salvador is a direct result of a flawed immigration policy in the 1990’s. It is clear today that the gang problem in Los Angeles and the rest of the United States cannot be solved by simply deporting the individuals to their native countries and dumping it on someone else. Here are a few additional online resources that can be useful for further research.

Wide Angle

This site is dedicated to the human rights of individuals all over the world, including documentaries of different issues. One of these online series, entitled "18 with a Bullet," gives visual information about MS-13 in the United States. Also, there are up-to-date articles about gang activity.

US Citizenship and Immigration Service

Every year, there are thousands of undocumented workers that cannot reap the benefits of the U.S. government for fear of deportation. However, recent news about obtaining citizenship and an in-depth look at the process is available through this site.

Contacting the Congress

Perhaps the most direct way of asking questions or reminding elected officials of problems within the Latino community is to contact a state representative. This site offers information for every state, and is available in Spanish.
