AID Speaker Series Summer 2016
AID Ann Arbor invites you to the Speaker Series 2016:
Leaders in Indian social activism visiting U of M, Ann Arbor to discuss burning social issues in India and ongoing movements to address them on Sunday, May 22, 2016.
1. Obalesh Bhemapa: Leading activist with Center for Rural Empowerment focused on rights of manual scavengers and other sanitation workers issues.
2. Kirankumar Vissa: AID activist involved in agriculture and farmers’ issues and consumer awareness for organic farming.
Queer Stories of India and Section 377There will be a presentation on Queer Stories of India will be held tomorrow (Friday, April 22nd). The presentation will be followed by discussion and a screening of the Bengali movie Chitrangada: The Crowing Wish. There will be free food and refreshments at the event. AID stall at Ann Arbor Art FairWe will be selling handmade jewellery/clothes/hand bags/paintings by poor, orphan or crippled kids from India. Ask our volunteers the story behind the product. Also, look out for Mehndi designs by our volunteers.
