How to get an AIESEC Internship

 What is AIESEC ?

The objective of AIESEC is to promote international awareness through cultural exchange. We are the LARGEST STUDENT-RUN organization in the entire world. Every year, the 87 member countries of AIESEC exchange thousands of students to work as interns in PAID positions.
We are dedicated to helping young people around the globe develop their skills through our unique international exchange programs and associated projects. Through these activities we help students develop a broader understanding of cultural, corporate, management, and economic issues.

Are you interested in going abroad?

If you agreed with any of the above statements, you should look into going on an AIESEC internship.

What makes AIESEC unique ?

There are many things that make us different from other foreign internship placement organizations. Check them out!

  1. Job placements in 89 countries from Germany to Papua New Guinea
  2. Instant Friends - You are hosted by university students abroad.
  3. Full services - AIESEC helps you obtain Visa, Housing, Cars and transportation.
  4. We help you find sponsorship and obtain airline discounts to help ease your cost of travelling abroad.
  5. Personal service. Interns are treated as AIESEC members and invited to Cultural Learning events where they get to meet and mingle with other AIESEC members and interns from abroad.
  6. We organize a Preparation Seminar to help prepare you for your experience abroad
  7. Our matching system INSIGHT is fully automated and online - your resume is instantly accessible to thousands of companies abroad.
  8. While abroad AIESEC chapters organize weekly tours, social events, trips and excursion during which you meet other interns and students from your host country.
  9. Companies abroad that hire our interns pay sufficiently well to cover all transportation, housing, food and even entertainment that the intern may encounter while abroad.

How to get an AIESEC Internship

If you are interested in taking an internship in Russia or Eastern Europe, you should first send an email to starkeyj@umich.edu, or jkalat@umich.edu. If you are specifically interested in one of the currently available internships please mentiont this. You will then be asked to send us a few documents which will help us in matching  you to an internship.

The 2 things you will need to turn in are
Resume and Cover Letter  - This guide will help you write a resume suitable for the international market along with
a cover letter. You might want to write this cover letter in Russian if possible.
AIESEC Intern Form - This is a "fill in the blanks" type form that is used to list your previous working
experiences and knowledge of necessary skills gained from your university classes.

These two items must be turned in computer format, i.e MS Word files. We will not accept
paper. The files may be turned in via email attachement to   starkeyj@umich.edu
Or you can simple turn them on a disk to our office at 4217 Michigan Union. Please
mark your disks "attn Jennifer" and then send an email to starkeyj@umich.edu  to let us know
you have turned in a disk for us.

The sooner you turn these in to us, the better your odds of being accepted. Companies go through their peak intern hiring season betwen may and august so if you wish to go this summer, you forms should be turned in fairly soon.

Your resume and intern form will be sent to Russia. AIESEC Russia will then attempt to match you to a currently available internship or they may attempt to raise one for you by approaching companies with your resume. We will let you know as soon as a job opening is available for you.

The cost of the program once you get accepted is $500. ($50 is refunded to you after you turn in a evaluation upon returning from your internship). You pay this $500 only once we secure an internship for you. If no company accepts you, you do not pay anything.

Once a company in Russia decides to accept you, you have a chance to accept or reject the internship.
If you do accept the internship, AIESEC Michigan will help you get the necessary visa and work permits and flight ticket. We will also help you apply for work abroas schorlorships and we are currently looking into finding a way you can get academic credit from the Unversity for your experince
abroad.

Once you do arrive in Russia, AIESEC Russia will arrange to pick you up from the airport, find you lodging, take you to your first day of work and help you get acquinted with your new city. AIESEC service abroad is very comprehensive and our interns are always impressed.
